Dialysis Unit at Mangala Hospital
Our Dialysis Unit supports scheduled haemodialysis for chronic kidney disease and urgent dialysis for selected hospital patients with acute kidney injury. Computerised dialysis stations are supplied by a dedicated RO (reverse-osmosis) water-treatment system and monitored by trained staff.
Infection-control arrangements include dedicated capacity for patients who require additional precautions. The unit also supports a Subsidised Dialysis Programme for eligible patients; please contact the nephrology desk for current eligibility, scheduling and concessional charges.
The Dialysis Unit works under the medical direction of our Nephrology consultants and in close coordination with Urology for patients on a transplant pathway. For the most critically unwell patients, dialysis can also be delivered directly within our Post-Operative ICU and Coronary Care Unit, so a change in a patient's condition never means a change in care team. This is particularly relevant for patients recovering from major surgery or a cardiac event, whose kidney function can be affected even when kidney disease was not the reason they were originally admitted.
