The department performs cataract surgery with lens implantation, squint correction and anti-glaucoma surgery on a regular basis, supported by a German Moller Wedel operating microscope dedicated to ophthalmic work, and is equipped for complex retinal and vitreous surgery, including vitreous replacement. Ocular trauma is managed round the clock.
Hospital records document Government recognition for corneal transplant surgery under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994 (Certificate No. MDM/4/2007-08). The department also developed Laser DCR as a minimally invasive outpatient option for selected patients with blocked tear ducts.
